Teaching vocabulary through small group discussion using songs
This research was aimed to investigate the scenario and implementation ofrnteaching vocabulary through small group discussion using songs, to investigaternthe teacher and students responses toward teaching vocabulary through smallrngroup discussion using songs, and to identify the students’ difficulties inrnlearning vocabulary through small group discussion using songs. Descriptivernqualitative method has been used as a research method in this study. Thisrnresearch implemented small group discussion method. This method wasrnimplemented at tenth grade students at one of Islamic Senior High Scholl inrnPadalarang. The researcher have done a total of three meetings and presentedrntwo songs in the classrom. Qualitative data were obtained by conductingrnobservation, test, questionnaire and interview to find out the extent to whichrnstudents’ understanding after they got the teaching-learning activities. Thernresult of this research reveals that the implementation of teaching vocabularyrnthrough small group discussion using songs has been implemented successfullyrnachieved and exceeded the minimum completion score was 75. The teacher andrnstudents gave a good responses to teaching vocabulary through small grouprndiscussion using songs. Meanwhile, the most striking students’ dificulties were;rnwhen the intonation of the songs is rather fast, students find it difficult to writernvocabulary due to lack of pronunciation skills, and the students’ lack ofrnunderstanding word of classes it’s difficult to them to analyze sentencerncontained in the song lyrics.
