This research are aimed to (1) know the kind of translation procedures used in translating imperative sentences which exist in And Then There Were None novel by Agatha Christie and its Indonesian version, Lalu Semuanya Lenyap novel translated by Mareta, (2) explain the types and the functions of the imperative sentence found. (3) and also analyze the tendency of the most dominant translation procedures used by the translator to translate imperative sentences. The object data of this research are 30 imperative sentences taken from both novels. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The research finding shows: (1) from 18 translation procedures proposed by Newmark (1988), the translator uses 9 procedures in translating 30 imperative sentences, they are 7 cases of literal translation (23%), 7 cases of couplets (23%), 4 cases of synonymy (14%), 4 cases of modulation (14%), 4 cases of reduction & expansion (14%), 1 case of naturalization (3%), 1 cases of functional equivalent (3%), 1 case of shift / transposition (3%), and 1 case of recognised translation (3%). (2) There are 2 types of imperative sentences, namely positive imperative sentences consisting of 22 data (73%), and negative imperative sentences consisting of 8 data (27%). The functions of imperative sentences include, 8 data (26.5%) as command, 8 data (26.5%) as prohibition, 5 data (17%) as request, 5 data (17%) as suggestion, 3 data (10%) as advice, and 1 data (3%) as invitation. (3) Literal translation and couplets are the most dominant procedure in this translation. Literal translation is commonly applied when SL have literally equivalent replacement in the TL. It happened because of the similarity of the imperative sentence patterns in both SL and TL. Whereas couplets occur when there are combinations of two, three, or more different procedures in one sentence. The translator also uses other translation procedures since he found the cultural words, the differences of grammatical structure, and context of viewpoint.
