(Skripsi) THE THEORY ASPECT OF SKIMMING AND SCANNING TECHNIQUES: EVIDENCE AND IMPLICATION TO STUDENTS COMPREHENDING ENGLISH READING TEXT
This study investigates how the effect of scanning and skimming reading techniques on students who are slow in reading English texts, especially in large sections of the text, based on Gebhard. Data collection was carried out using qualitative methods through 32 students, but with different situations. not possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic so that only 12 students took the data collection test. This study revealed that almost the majority of students realized that the English text made it difficult for them to find answers to the tests they took so that before they succeeded in answering, they had run out of time to answer. The main problem in most of the students' cases is finding the main idea of an English reading text that they are working on, which makes them have to repeatedly read the text as a whole. With this research, it is hoped that it can be used as input for students to apply scanning and skimming techniques as implications and evidence for English reading texts so that they do not need to read the English text as a whole and can answer correctly.
