Improving The Young Learners Vocabulary Mastery Through Singing Songs
In practice, many students especially young learners are still poor in their vocabulary. This problem is due to many factors, but it can be improved by one of strategy of teaching which is teaching through singing songs. This technique can be used in teaching English to improve young learner's vocabulary mastery. The main objective of this research is to find out whether or not singing songs can improve the young learners’ vocabulary mastery. The research design of this research was quantitative research design. The research method was experimental method with quasi experimental design. The population of this research was 44rnstudents of the fourth grade students of SDN 1 Nangerang and the sample was covered 40 students which is divided into two group, that was 20 students for experimental group and 20 students for control group. The instrument of this research was the vocabulary test. The data of this research was analyzed by using the program SPSS. The result of the data analysis showed that: mean score ofrnexperimental group was 27.5000, mean score of control group was 8.2500, and the sig (1-tailed) of t-test 0 was smaller than 0.05. Based on those data analysis, itm means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, there was a significant differences in the achievement between experimental and control group. It could also be concluded that singing songs can improve young learners’ vocabularyrnmastery.
