IMPROVING STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXTUSING CLUSTERING TECHNIQUEÂ
The objective of the research entitled “Improving Students’ Ability in WritingrnDescriptive Text Using Clustering Technique†is to know whether Clusteringrntechnique can improve students’ ability in writing descriptive text. This researchrnfocused on the implementation of students’ achievement on writing descriptiverntext using Clustering technique. The writer used Classroom Action Researchrn(CAR) as the method of research. This research consisted of two cycles and eachrncycle consisted of four steps they were Planning, Acting, Observing, andrnReflecting. The writer conducted this research in one month at SMPN 9 Cimahi.rnThe population of this research consists 494 students, while the sample is 38rnstudents. To collect and analyze data, the writer used writing test in pre-test andrnpost-test. Based on the result of this research, the implementation of ClusteringrnTechnique in teaching descriptive text has shown an improvement. As can be seenrnfrom the data analysis that shows a significant improvement. The students’ meanrnin pre-test was 54.2. In the first cycle the mean score was 73.8. Meanwhile meanrnscore in the second cycle was 84.3. It means that there was 19.6 points of meanrnimprovement from the students’ score in pre-test to the first cycle and there wasrnbe 30.1 points of mean score improvement from students’ writing score in firstrnpost-test to the second cycle. The writer concluded that the implementation ofrnClustering Technique could improve students’ writing ability of eighth grade atrnSMPN 9 Cimahi.rnrnÂ
