(Skripsi) LEARNING CRITICAL READING ON SCHOOLOGY: EXPLORATION OF BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES
Critical reading online is the topic of this research which aims to find out the experiences of students about learning critical reading online using Schoology during a pandemic. This research was conducted with a qualitative method. Data analysis in this study used thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke (2006) and Barkhuizen, Benson & Chik (2014). This research was conducted at the Department of English Education at a private University in Cirebon and involved three students as participants in this study. Data was collected through interview sessions. The results of this study indicate that the use of Schoology in learning critical reading online provides benefits and challenges for students. The benefits that students can get include being time-efficient, easy to collect assignments, recognizing learning features in Schoology, easy to use, easy to access materials, materials can be opened at any time and can be downloaded, can distinguish opinions and bayes, make critical thinking, and understand the technique of reading scanning and skimming these findings more towards an academic direction. Then the participants in this study also mentioned the challenges they encountered while studying unstable networks, low audio-video, has a lot of errors, answers stored by itself, a long duration of the video, lack of vocabulary, not focus, long text, and difficulty understanding learning video. Almost all participants have different benefits and challenges when learning critical reading online, based on the experience they get.
